Retinitis Macular Degeneration Optic Nerve Atrophy Glaucoma

Retinitis Pigmentosa

Retinitis Pigmentosa is slow degeneration  disorder of  rods and cones of the retina (the light receptors of the eye). It can take a significantly longer time to treat effectively than other chronic degenerative eye conditions and is one of the more difficult conditions to treat. It progresses over a period of ten to forty years and is among the major causes of blindness.

It takes series of intensive treatments to see the best results because of the highly complex nature of Retinitis Pigmentosa,.  Dr. Pardeshi Acupuncture Therapy use Micro Acupuncture, Electro-acupuncture methods in Nashik. RP patients can expect to recover varying degrees of vision field.

Journal of Ophthalmology reports –

“Acupuncture may improve the activities and speed of the rod and cone cells of retina, enhance the neural networks and biological activity of the retina cells, and improve the inner circulation, the metabolic activities of retinal epithelium-photoreceptors complexes, and the damages to visual function.”

 Age-related Macular Degeneration – (AMD)

AMD is condition of central vision loss (or fogginess), where straight lines may become crooked, shapes seem blurry, and faces distort. The peripheral vision here is not affected. Cells in the macula, the area that processes central vision and acute vision gradually deteriorate in AMD.

There are two types of AMD, wet and dry. In ninety percent of cases it is dry type, characterized by small yellow drusen spots which form under the macula. The vision loss progresses because drusen slowly damage the cells of the macula. About 10% of dry AMD progress to wet type which is more serious.

Dr Pardeshi Acupuncture Therapy works to repair the integrity of the whole structure, and can be highly effective in doing so.

AMD.org reports –

“Several practitioners are using acupuncture to treat AMD and are reporting some success with individual patients.”

Open-Angle Glaucoma

Glaucoma is condition, the fluid does not drain and the pressure that builds up damages the optic nerve, causing vision loss. It can go undetected until there is vision loss with gradual-onset condition that. Visual acuity is not usually affected and there is gradual loss of peripheral vision. There is no associated pain and vision loss in glaucoma is often due to damage of the optic nerve.

Acupuncture works to regulate this circulation of fluids without damaging the eye. If the patient is treated in the early stages of open-angle glaucoma,  it preserves the health and function of the optic nerve and can be quite successful.

Optic Nerve Atrophy

In this condition of atrophy, the nerve fibers weaken and lose function due to optic nerve atrophy is a destruction of the optic nerve fibers. It may affect one or both eyes and the degree of atrophy and vision loss varies from person to person.  Optic Nere atrophy may be due to hereditary or secondary to a pre-existing neurological disorder such as multiple sclerosis.

Dr Pardeshi Acupuncture Therapy give fairly good results fro optic nerve atrophy treatment.   It generally strengthen the nerve fibers and nerve conduction, thus dramatically improving the vision to normal or near normal.

Myopia – Nearsightedness

In myopia one can’t see distant objects clearly due more curved cornea and longer eye ball. It is amenable to Dr Pardeshi Acupuncture therapy to some extent.

US National Library of Medicine National Institute of Health

“…Despite an inability to explain in modern scientific terms the healing power of acupuncture, documentation of over 500 cases treated shows that this modality can be successful in the treatment of eye diseases, especially in cases of retinitis pigmentosa, high myopia, cataracts, surgical aphakia, controlled glaucoma and re-attached ablation retinae…”

Many of functional ophthalmic problems not manageable by regular treatments are many times respond very well to acupuncture. Treatments of conditions like glaucoma, retinitis, cataract, chronic dry eyes, macular Degeneration, optic neuritis and optic atrophy have fair chance of improvement when all other remedied are exhausted. Pain of eye, tics of eyelid and face, ptosis, squint, lateral rectus palsy are very much amenable to treatment of Dr Pardeshi Acupuncture Pain Therapy. Acupuncture is not intended to substitute for established medication or surgery in ophthalmology.
